The Haryana government is considering sending state police chief DGP Shatrujeet Kapur on leave following the suicide of senior IPS officer ADGP Y Puran Kumar, who was found dead at his Chandigarh residence earlier this week.
According to top government sources, an officiating DGP is likely to be appointed later today, amid mounting pressure on the state administration to act on the explosive allegations made in Kumar’s nine-page suicide note.
The move comes as the suicide note, recovered from the officer’s pocket, revealed serious charges of harassment, discrimination, and administrative bias against as many as 12 senior officers, including a DGP-rank officer.
