Police in Mwanza district have arrested a 55-year-old man, Wyson Khauleya, for allegedly having sex with a 13-year-old girl until she became pregnant.

Mwanza deputy police spokesperson Ritta Nyirongo confirmed the incident and said Khauleya borrowed K5,000 from the girl to buy shoes.

When the girl failed to repay the money, Khauleya decided to have sex with her as punishment for not being able to repay the money until she became pregnant.

Nyirongo said that when the police heard about this, they arrested Khauleya. Medical tests showed that the girl had been raped several times and was three months pregnant.
