Actor-writer Ethan Hawke isn’t afraid of a dramatic transformation for a role and his latest one for Blue Moon certainly proves it.

The actor and writer opened up to People about altering his appearance to play legendary Broadway lyricist Lorenz Hart in the Richard Linklater-directed film, sharing how something as subtle as changing his eye colour had an unexpected impact.

“I’ve read reviews that cite the prosthetics or a bald cap or all these different things, none of which are there,” Hawke said. “The different eye colour somehow changed my face dramatically, in a way that I didn’t understand or anticipate.”
