BOISE, Idaho — A proposed six-story affordable housing project on Fairview Avenue was approved Wednesday night, but it draws sharp opposition from longtime residents nearby the site.
The project is called "Fairview Village Affordable Housing," designed by the The Land Architect, according to city design proposal documents.
The project is intended for residents making 60% of the area's median income or below – equal to an income of just over $41,000 a year, or just over $1,000 a month. The project proposed 205 units, with amenities like a dog park and potential retail space.
Neighbors concerned about building height, parking and pedestrian safety with increased volume levels
Tim Martin, who has lived in the area for 36 years, said the building would fundamentally alter the community
