BOISE, Idaho — Southwest Idaho is about to experience a case of weather whiplash . After a stretch of warm, dry, summer-like days, a powerful storm system will arrive this weekend and completely change the weather pattern.
Friday afternoon, conditions remain warm and dry for the most areas, but changes will be knocking on the door by the evening.
As the trough deepens into a closed low near the Oregon Coast, instability will build across southern Idaho. Isolated thunderstorms are expected to fire Friday evening into early Saturday morning. While not widespread, these storms could bring brief downpours and gusty winds as the leading edge of a cold front approaches.
