COLUMBUS, Ohio — October is when college football starts to reach its peak form.

The leaves change colors. The temperature outside dips. The intensity of conference matchups heats up.

The 10th month of the year is also when Heisman campaigns start to take form. Young stars begin to separate from their peers, thrusting themselves into must-watch territory.

Who will those standouts be this year? Could Ohio State have multiple candidates for the sport’s most prestigious award? Is there a darkhorse candidate who will use October to propel himself into elite company?

Here’s a look at my five Heisman favorites heading into Week 7. These rankings were made with two things in mind: what players have done so far and what I expect them to do down the stretch.
