BALTIMORE — Maryland's top Democrat lawmakers stood at Baltimore/Washington International Airport on Wednesday to show federal workers they stand with them. Flight delays across the country are numbering in the thousands due to staffing shortages, and it's starting to impact our region .

Airport workers like TSA agents and air traffic controllers are "essential workers," so despite the shutdown, they have to show up for work. Maryland Gov. Wes Moore and the state's Democratic congressional delegation said they are working to get loans for them because even as they work, they aren't getting paychecks.

Approximately 550 TSA agents and 70 air traffic controllers, support staff, and management are employed at BWI and are currently working without pay.
