PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) -- Leading homeless advocates across Portland are hosting a unique effort to spark candid conversations around the challenges on the city's streets.

Local non-profits, including My Father's House, Union Gospel Mission, CityTeam and Portland Rescue Mission, are hosting a 24-hour campaign called 'Conversations on a Bench,' inviting community members to engage with them at three locations.

The effort begins at noon on Thursday, October 9th, and runs through noon on Friday, October 10th, which is World Homeless Day.
