SOUTHWEST VIRGINIA (WJHL) — The Virginia Department of Education announced on Thursday that $12 million in School Security Equipment Grants will be awarded to 433 schools across the Commonwealth, including 25 in Southwest Virginia.

Out of 433, the following Southwest Virginia schools will receive various funds to purchase new security equipment, according to a news release from the Virginia Department of Education. • Bristol City - $5,872 Virginia Intermediate School Virginia Middle • Virginia Intermediate School • Virginia Middle • Dickenson County - $112,526  Ridgeview High Ridgeview Middle • Ridgeview High • Ridgeview Middle • Lee County - $190,693  Flatwoods Elementary Lee County Alternative Education Program • Flatwoods Elementary • Lee County Alternative Education
