Jackson police arrested a suspect after a man was found shot in head, stabbed and dead in a ditch on Abram Ford Drive.
A press release issued Wednesday night, Oct. 8, from the department states JPD homicide detectives identified the suspect in this case as Kelarce McElroy, 42.
Detectives obtained a warrant for McElroy's arrest, apprehended McElroy and took him into police custody on Wednesday evening.
Police charged McElroy with possession of narcotics, aggravated assault and murder for the death of 68-year-old Jerry B. Lee.
Interim Jackson Police Chief Tyree Jones said Lee was found dead in a ditch around 6 a.m. Wednesday in the 100 block of Abram Ford Drive.
