Glasgow City Council has been urged to make sure communities like Castlemilk and Easterhouse which can become “shut off” in severe winter weather are not “left behind”.
The city’s Labour group deputy leader, Cllr John Carson, said storms or snowy weather can have a “disproportionate impact” on some areas of Glasgow.
He asked council officials what action will be taken to maintain roads and footpaths in places like Castlemilk, Easterhouse and Drumchapel, which can be “effectively locked off”.
Cllr Carson said: “Given the areas of deprivation that are there, if they can’t get out of the scheme to work or college or whatever else, then it has a disproportionate impact.
