BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) - A Baton Rouge man was arrested after deputies say a dog that was found unconscious later died after intentionally being kicked by him.

According to the East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to the 13500 block of Rampart Court back in 2023 in reference to a cruelty to animals call. Authorities say upon arrival, a woman claimed that a man, identified as Daniel Decuir, had killed her dog. Deputies say Decuir was not on the scene by the time officials arrived.

The probable cause report states that a witness told investigators that Decuir arrived to the home after getting into an argument with someone. He allegedly walked into a room in the back of the home to grab a phone charger, then walked back into the living room. About thirty minutes later, the
