BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) - Lamendola’s Supermarket celebrated its 90th anniversary on Thursday, Oct. 9.

Gonzales Mayor Tim Riley issued a proclamation naming October 9th ‘Lamendola’s Supermarket Day.’

The grocery store, a 4th-generation family-owned supermarket in Ascension Parish, has been operating in Gonzales since 1936, founded by Angelo Lamendola.

Four generations of Lamendolas were present for the celebration, including the 97-year-old patriarch.

Lamendola’s Supermarket customers were treated to an appreciation day, which included complimentary jambalaya.

Lamendola’s Supermarket is located at 116 W. Ascension St. in Gonzales, LA.
