RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) — Calls for Democratic Representative Cecil Brockman to resign from the North Carolina House are mounting Thursday morning as he's due in court on child sex crime charges.

Brockman, who represents Guilford County, was arrested on Wednesday on two counts of statutory sex offense with a child and two counts of indecent liberties with a child. Court documents state that Brockman, 41, had a sexual encounter with a 15-year-old.

He was denied bond by a magistrate. Court documents further said, “[Defendant] has made attempts to contact the victim in this case and has gone as far as attempting to locate the juvenile in the hospital and attempting to use his status to gain information on the whereabouts of the victim.” The documents also say Brockman has “access to abundant r
