TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) - Donna Adelson is expected to be sentenced Monday afternoon, according to the State Attorney’s Office. She’s set to be sentenced at 3 p.m.

The South Florida grandmother’s sentencing comes after she was found guilty last month of first-degree murder, conspiracy and solicitation in the 2014 murder for hire of her former son-in-law and Florida State University professor Dan Markel.

Donna Adelson faces a mandatory life sentence for the first-degree murder conviction.

Her guilty verdict was reached after a jury deliberated for just over three hours following a two-week trial. Her children, Wendi Adelson and Robert Adelson , were among several who took the stand in the murder trial.
