The Met Office has issued its verdict on whether the UK will see any snow in the coming days after reports emerged that the country is set to see 'four inches' fall.

Anybody hoping for an early burst of the white stuff will be disappointed to learn that there is "no significant snow in the forecast", according to the weather agency.

It comes after reports suggested Scotland would be hit by heavy snowfall towards the end of October, with one headline suggesting the UK would see a "four-inch burst".

However, the Met Office has rejected the suggestion, issuing its own forecast for the coming days.
