Former BCCI president and India captain Sourav Ganguly commented on Rohit Sharma's captaincy snub and said it is something that happens to every big player towards the end of their career. Rohit, who captained India to Champions Trophy glory early in the year, was replaced by Shubman Gill as the new ODI captain.

The 38-year-old remained a part of the ODI squad as a normal player for the upcoming Australia tour. Speaking exclusively to India Today about the decision, Ganguly said he is sure that it isn't a sacking and a mutual call between Rohit and BCCI. The new CAB president said that Rohit's age would have been a factor in the call and gave a reference to his own situation.
