BATON ROUGE, La. (Louisiana First) -- Jazz takes center stage on the Bluff!

The Southern University Jazz Band is teaming up with the world-renowned Uptown Jazz Orchestra to inspire and mentor the next generation of musicians.

The event will be held Monday, Oct. 13, from noon to 2:30 p.m. at Debose Hall on Southern University’s Baton Rouge campus.

"If you're a fan of good music and you want to have a good time, you need to be in that place," said Roderick Paulin, the director of Jazz Studies.

Founded in 1969, the Southern University Jazz Ensemble continues to honor its rich musical legacy. This event combines mentorship, performance, and education, showcasing how Southern is shaping the future of jazz through hands-on experience.
