POSEY CO., Ind. (WFIE) - Posey County Prosecutor’s Office officials say an Illinois man with a prior criminal record has been sentenced to prison for drug possession and gun charges in Posey County.

According to a press release, Damian Schile was sentenced to 17 years in prison on Wednesday afternoon after pleading guilty to Possession of Methamphetamine and Unlawful Possession of a Firearm by a Serious Violent Felon.

Officials say as part of his guilty plea, Schile admitted to possessing more than 10 grams of methamphetamine and a handgun.

Deputies with the Posey County Sheriff’s Office pulled Schile’s vehicle over for speeding on the afternoon of May 26 of this year.
