EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WFIE) - A shooting just blocks away from the West Side Nut Club Fall Festival has many wondering how law enforcement handled the situation while providing security.

“Anytime there’s an act of violence near the festival, even if not in our footprint at the festival, even if it’s a few blocks away, it gives the perception that it’s involved with the festival and it could deter people from coming to the festival and make people feel that they’re unsafe down here, but that had nothing to do with the festival,” Capt. Jason Thomas, the Special Operations Commander for the Evansville Police Department said.

Those with EPD say because the Fall Festival was happening nearby, they were able to respond even faster to the incident.
