WASHINGTON — A man accused of speeding down the National Mall back in June , doing donuts and causing thousands of dollars worth of damage to the Mall's grass, pleaded guilty in court on Thursday. Curtis Lear pleaded guilty to one count of destruction of federal property, and one count of assault with a dangerous weapon, according to court filings obtained by WUSA9.
According to U.S. Park Police, the bizarre incident unfolded around 9:01 p.m. on June 21. Officers responded to reports of a black Jeep Patriot driving erratically on the lawn of the National Mall, between Jefferson and Madison Drives near 7th Street NW.
