An 11-year-old boy was fatally shot in the head while playing with a handgun in New York’s Hudson Valley early Thursday, putting all of the city of Newburgh’s schools on lockout as cops swarmed the neighborhood.

Newburgh police said in a news release that cops responded to a home on North Miller Street at 8:17 a.m. on reports of a shooting incident and found the young boy dead inside the home.

The scene is a block away from the Bishop Dunn Memorial School, prompting district officials to order the safety measure as a precaution. 4
