CALDWELL, Idaho — A Nampa man has been sentenced to life in prison for violent crimes against his family, including attempted murder.
Daniel Colon, 40, was sentenced on Wednesday, Oct. 8, in Canyon County Court and must serve 25 years before he is eligible for parole, according to the prosecuting attorney. A jury convicted Colon in July on 11 felony and misdemeanor counts, including attempted murder, aggravated arson and injury to a child.
The crimes occurred on a single night in April 2024 when Colon strangled his wife, Tania Colon. The prosecutor also states that he attempted to detonate an explosive device in the family's car and set fire to their house, while their five children were asleep inside.
