HAVANA, Fla. – Florida State University football player Ethan Pritchard was released from the hospital Thursday after spending more than a month recovering from being shot in the back of the head, according to the university.

The university said Pritchard will be moved to Brooks Rehabilitation in Jacksonville to continue his recovery process. Pritchard, an FSU linebacker, was taken to the hospital in critical condition on Aug. 31.

His father, Earl Pritchard, released the following statement on his release:

I am so thankful for everyone who has prayed for my son. There have been a lot of ups and downs over these last 39 days, and it is remarkable that Ethan and I were able to leave the hospital together today.
