Sitting in a movie where a Black college student accuses her white male professor of a sexual assault is already an uncomfortable position. Add in a that it’s laced in contradiction, it becomes a discomfort that makes you question where your own moral compass lies.

That’s the situation we’re up against in After the Hunt. Ayo Edebiri plays Maggie, a student who is close to her college professor Alma, portrayed by Julia Roberts. After a party, she’s walked home by Hank, played by Andrew Garfield, another professor, who is friends with Alma.
