MERIDEN, Conn. (WTNH) — A woman has serious injuries after being hit by a car Thursday in Meriden, according to police on scene.

The crash happened in the area of Williams and East Main Street, near the Kentucky Fried Chicken restaurant. Williams Street and East Main Street are closed.

Police said the woman was crossing the street when the collision occurred. The driver remained on scene and an investigation is underway.
