OZARK — A Dale County man is sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole after pleading guilty Tuesday morning to the 2024 capital murder of his next-door neighbor.

Waiving his right to a jury trial, James Albert Johnson Jr. told 33rd Judicial Circuit Judge William Filmore 2024, he is guilty of the Nov. 10, 2024, death of Sherry Clark.

Johnson, 30, has been in Dale County Jail without bond charged with killing Clark six days after his release from a Florida prison.

"The Florida Justice System failed my mother," said one of Clark's daughters who took the stand to thank the district attorney and law officers involved in the swift resolution of the case.
