The Montgomery City Council adopted a resolution this week to try to keep Jackson Hospital open.
The council voted unanimously on Tuesday to enter into an agreement to provide support for the struggling hospital, which announced last week that it could close in 30 days if it does not secure financial assistance .
“The city of Montgomery is willing to enter into agreement if all parties are participating, the county, the state, and everybody,” said council member Cornelius Calhoun. “The county and the state is not participating in this agreement. So this is the resolution that we’re putting forth as a city. We’re willing to partner to save Jackson, but we need our other partners to participate also.”
