The person killed in a single-vehicle crash on University Drive in Huntsville early Thursday morning has been identified.

Huntsville Police say 22-year-old Coleman Hurt was driving a Kia Forte when it left the roadway and struck a traffic signal pole.

Police responded to the crash, which happened near the intersection of University Drive and Waddell Drive, about 4:49 a.m.

Hurt was pronounced dead at the scene, according to police.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.

Don Webster with Huntsville Emergency Medical Services Inc. says HEMSI, Huntsville Police, Huntsville Fire & Rescue, and Huntsville-Madison County Rescue Squad all responded to the scene.
