The union representing 51,000 striking Alberta teachers says it has asked the province to resume negotiations starting Tuesday.
The Alberta Teachers’ Association says it’s making the move based on the success of recent side talks.
“The exploratory discussions that took place since last Friday helped in the development of further negotiations,” the union said Thursday in a statement.
It said it’s looking for formal talks after the long weekend with the provincial negotiator, the Teachers’ Employer Bargaining Association and a mediator.
Teachers walked off the job Monday amid stalemated contract discussions.
