CORTLAND, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) -- Police have arrested a Cortland woman on charges of locking a six-year-old in a dark closet for an hour.

After receiving reports of child abuse, officers from the Cortland Police Department arrived at a home on Arthur Avenue on Oct. 8, around noon. They eventually arrested 30-year-old Lori Maricle for, as the police allege, locking the child in the closet, placing a heavy wooden dresser in front of the door to block her from leaving, and leaving the home for about an hour.

Police also accuse Maricle of leaving two other children, a 2-year-old and a 7-month-old, in the home unsupervised.
