Veteran UK doom metal band My Dying Bride announced on Thursday that they’ve officially parted ways with founding singer Aaron Stainthorpe.

Stainthorpe, who cofounded My Dying Bride in 1990, stepped away from touring last year amid tensions with guitarist Andrew Craighan, just a couple weeks before the release of the band’s latest album, A Mortal Binding . A year later, My Dying Bride decided to resume touring with Swallow the Sun’s Mikko Kotamäki filling in on lead vocals.

Now, My Dying Bride have made the split with Stainthorpe permanent, releasing the following statement on their social media pages:
