ASPEN HILL, Md. — A child was struck and killed by a school bus driver at the intersection of Bauer Drive and Russet Road on Thursday.

Montgomery County police responded to the scene at 3:12 p.m. When they arrived, officers found a girl, 11, had been struck by a school bus driver, according to police.

The girl, whose identity has not yet been released, died at the scene.

“This is heartbreaking news for our school system and for our community,” said Dr. Thomas Taylor, superintendent of Montgomery County Public Schools. “No words can truly capture the pain that our school community is feeling at this time.”
