Title: Two Charged for Illegal Drone Flights Over Rogers Centre

Toronto police have charged two individuals for operating drones illegally over the Rogers Centre during recent Blue Jays post-season games. The incidents occurred on Saturday and Sunday when the Blue Jays faced the New York Yankees in back-to-back playoff matches.

Using specialized drone detection technology, the Toronto Police Emergency Management and Public Order Unit identified and intercepted three unauthorized drone flights above the stadium. The two individuals were operating micro-drones, which weigh less than 249 grams. They have been charged under Canadian Aviation Regulations and issued fines for violating the no-fly zone designated for the area.

Authorities emphasize that the Rogers Centre is a no-fly zone during all Blue Jays post-season games. This restriction applies universally, including to micro-drones. Police remind all drone operators that they are responsible for understanding and adhering to federal aviation rules and regulations.

The names of the individuals charged have not been disclosed. The Blue Jays recently secured a victory against the Yankees, allowing them to advance to the American League Championship Series for the first time since 2016. They are set to return to the Rogers Centre on Sunday for Game 1 of the series against either the Seattle Mariners or the Detroit Tigers.
