Former Jawaharlal Nehru University scholar Umar Khalid on Thursday (October 9, 2025) submitted before a Delhi court that he was “singled out” by the police in the larger conspiracy case pertaining to north-east Delhi riots, while many with “bigger roles were not made an accused”.
The communal riots that broke out in February 2020 in north-east Delhi left 53 people dead and hundreds displaced.
The submissions were made before the Additional Sessions Judge Sameer Bajpai of Karkardooma Courts, who is hearing the case that is at the stage of framing charges against Mr. Khalid and others.
