YORK COUNTY, S.C. (WBTV) - A pair of South Carolina Solicitors said they are helping lawmakers draft legislation, they believe, could help prevent future violent crime.

Kevin Brackett, Solicitor of the Sixteenth Judicial Circuit, and David Pascoe, Solicitor of the First Judicial Circuit, stood alongside three people who lost loved ones to murder to make the announcement on Thursday.

Joining them were Renea Barber, whose husband and brother were killed in Rock Hill in 2019; Stephen Federico, whose daughter, Logan, was murdered in Columbia earlier this year; and Lori Williams, whose brother, retired police lieutenant Larry Vaughan, was killed in 2021.

The man accused of killing Barber’s husband and brother, Jimar Neely, was later found not guilty by reason of insanity .
