A renovated homeless shelter in New Haven is adding to the city’s bed capacity ahead of Thursday's overnight freeze and the 2025 winter season.

Upon This Rock Outreach Shelter, located at 645 Grand Avenue has been serving homeless men over the past year, according to the shelter's executive director, Pastor Valerie Washington.

"We house 75 men. Our men enter in through the Coordinated Access Network (CAN) and through the City of New Haven, where we provide wrap-around services, breakfast, lunch, and dinner,” Washington said.
