TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — A new attraction could soon change Tampa’s skyline: a 250-foot observation wheel overlooking the Bay. But while developers said it would bring stunning views and boost tourism, some neighbors said they’re not on board.

The project, called Tampa WOW!, was presented to the Tampa City Council on Thursday.

Developer Tony Miller said the 250-foot wheel would be built just north of the Florida Aquarium, on less than an acre of city-owned land leased to the aquarium.

Supporters believe the project could become a new landmark and give both visitors and locals a fresh way to experience the city.
