NILES, Mich. -- The Niles Police Department announced on Thursday that an arrest has been made in connection with an Aug. 14 incident where In the Cut Barbershop was tagged with graffiti containing a racial slur.

Police say their investigation led to the arrest of 63-year-old Timothy W. McDermott of Niles.

The Berrien County Prosecutor's Office has authorized charges of Felony Hate Crime and Misdemeanor Malicious Destruction of Property Over $200 but Less Than $1000 against McDermott.

McDermott was arraigned Thursday at the Fifth District Court in Niles. Share
