LIVONIA, Mich. (WOOD) — A Battle Creek police officer was let go by the department after he pointed a gun at another officer while off duty, according to court documents obtained by News 8.
During the weapons and alcohol incident, which happened in May, Hunter Barnett pointed a gun at another Battle Creek officer while both were off duty in Holiday Inn Express hotel in Livonia on May 16.
In a phone call with News 8, the Battle Creek Police Department Chief Shannon Bagley confirmed the incident, saying the officer was let go from the department in September after an internal investigation.
He confirmed the two officers were attending a training course at Schoolcraft College. The school offers several courses in its program for in-service officers. Some classes include firearms instructor
