GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — Eastbound I-196 is scheduled to close at US-131 for the weekend as work continues on the busy downtown Grand Rapids interchange.
Eastbound I-196 will close at 10 p.m. Friday for bridge work. It's scheduled to reopen at 6 a.m. Monday, according to the Michigan Department of Transportation. The ramp from northbound US-131 to eastbound I-196 will also be closed.
Over the weekend, drivers who need to head east can instead take northbound US-131 to eastbound I-96, MDOT said. The ramp from eastbound I-196 to southbound US-131 will stay open for the most part, but it's scheduled to close for a few hours Friday night (from 9 p.m. to midnight).
You can keep an eye on road work using MDOT's MiDrive map.
