(NewsNation) — A defamation lawsuit filed by Canadian rapper Drake against his own representatives, Universal Music Group, has been tossed out by a federal judge Thursday.
Drake filed the suit against UMG for the distribution and promotion of rival artist Kendrick Lamar's "Not Like Us," where Drake is referred to as a "certified paedophile," which the Canadian believes tarnished his reputation and decreased his brand value.
Judge Jeannette A. Vargas noted there was a "vitriolic war of words" between Drake and Lamar but did not believe reasonable listeners would have taken the insult to be fact.
