Former Boston Red Sox left fielder Mike Greenwell, a two-time All-Star with a career .303 batting average, has tragically passed away at the age of 62.
Mike Greenwell announced in August that he had been diagnosed with medullary thyroid cancer. The Lee County Government announced his death in a Facebook post. He had served as the District 5 Commissioner in Lee County, Florida, since 2022.

Boston drafted the Louisville, Kentucky, native in 1982. Mike Greenwell turned pro three years later, batting .323 in 17 games during the 1985 season. A year later, he helped Boston to a 95-win season and a trip t
