A man has been charged with the murder of another man who died following an alleged assault in Hervey Bay, QLD.

Police attended a home on Torquay Tce in Torquay about 2.30pm on Thursday following reports of a disturbance between a group of men.

A 40-year-old man was found conscious inside but died soon after .

He was allegedly assaulted at a property around the corner on Fraser St.

A 57-year-old man has been charged with one count of murder.

He was refused police bail and is due to appear in Hervey Bay Magistrates Court on Friday.
