SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (Dakota News Now) - If you’ve been around the community and seen dogs with red bandanas around their necks, those are therapy dogs.

They’re meant to bring joy to people and to be pets.

However, with fewer than 90 therapy dogs in the area, Shop Dog Boutique is offering a seminar about the steps for your furry friend to be the next one.

On Saturday, Shop Dog Boutique is offering a seminar class about how to become a therapy dog handler and how to get your dog to become a therapy dog, which Therapy Dogs International says they could always use more of.

Sioux Falls’ Therapy Dogs International chapter president Beth Jernberg says the main job of a therapy dog is to be a pet.

They go everywhere from community events to schools and colleges, and even hospitals.
