According to Salon’s Briam Karem, there is at least one Donald Trump insider who finds the president’s visit on Friday to Walter Reed National Military Medical Center concerning.
Earlier in the week, White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt told reporters that the 79-year-old Trump, whose health issues have become fodder for online speculation, would “stop by for his routine yearly check up.”
However, it was then reported that the president’s last known medical screening was in April — just six months ago.
In his Friday column for Salon, Karem, a longtime White House reporter, pointed to the Walter Reed appointment and claimed he spoke to someone in Trump’s orbit, who admitted they were in the dark as to why.
Karem wrote, “On deep background Thursday night, a source close to Trump wouldn’t say specifically why he was going to the hospital, ‘but no one has an annual physical twice in the same year — unless there’s something going on with their health.’”
For his part, Karem added, “Should Trump expire before he is held accountable, it would be in the best interest of the country for his wealth to be stripped from his heirs and his vast property holdings turned into low-cost housing for the underprivileged and the homeless. Then Trump should be relegated to the same dustbin of history as Epstein.”
Former GOP campaign adviser Rick Wilson made a similar observation on his Substack platform this week, writing, “Let this be a clear warning to those who would enable an assault on 250 years of American liberty. You will not reign forever. Your Dear Leader will be dead sooner than you imagine, given his failing health and corroded mind.”
