As they skated out as starters before the Penguins’ 3-0 opening win over the Rangers on Tuesday, they became the first trio to play 20 seasons together in North American major professional sports history.

That’s plenty of time to develop an almost familial relationship.

“It reminds me a lot of brothers and how they act,” Penguins coach Dan Muse said. “They're gonna do anything possible for that guy next to him, and they're also going to make sure that they're helping each other get the most out of every day.”
