LOS ANGELES — Tyler Glasnow and Cristopher Sánchez delivered another fantastic starting pitching matchup in a National League Division Series full of them. Game 4 needed extras to decide, and it was a throwing error by pitcher Orion Kerkering that gave the Dodgers’ 2-1 win over the Phillies in 11 innings to win the NLDS.

Andy Pages, with just one hit in 24 at-bats this postseason, grounded a ball back to Kerkering, who couldn’t field it cleanly and then threw wildly over catcher JT Realmuto’s head for the toughest of tough-luck losses for the Phillies.

The Dodgers and Phillies diverged on their exit strategies with similar results, with each team allowing a run in the seventh inning.
