Grovetown community grieves the loss of esteemed city historian

AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - The Grovetown community is mourning the loss of its beloved historian.

City officials announced that Charles Lord, 80, died on Thursday.

South Carolina health officials have confirmed a full-blown measles outbreak in the Upstate.

Lord had volunteered his services at the Grovetown Museum for the past 25 years.

He enjoyed collecting and identifying artifacts while sharing his knowledge about the city’s history with others.

Lord was also a former city councilman and helped install some of the first sidewalks in Grovetown.
