AUSTIN, Texas — Austin-Bergstrom International Airport (ABIA) has returned to normal operations after a suspicious item was discovered in a terminal Thursday afternoon.
According to officials with ABIA, the suspicious item was found in the Barbara Jordan Terminal, and passengers were removed from the affected area of the terminal as a precaution.
The terminal was never placed under an evacuation, but the Austin Police Department (APD) had established a perimeter to investigate the scene and ensure public safety.
On Friday, officials with APD said the department's bomb squad responded and after further investigation the item was determined not to be an explosive device.
No people were injured and APD said no arrests have been made in connection to the incident.
